High School Challenge Team Applications

Applications are now invited for the 19/20 Season High School Challenge Team

This is an amazing experience which has benefitted many of our top cowboys/cowgirls over the years

The Challenge is open to all financial NZRCA members who are attending High School – Years 9 – 13. You may be considered if you are under 18 years old and in full time tertiary study

The events are barrel race, breakaway roping, rookie bull ride and novice steer ride

This year the NZ Challenge will be held in the South Island, will be held at the Mataura Rodeo and two other events in the week preceding or after. If you are selected then you have to be able to make your own way to the South Island to compete in the challenge. The Australian Challenge is usually held at the end of August in Queensland, the cost is usually about $1500 plus spending money. You will be expected to attend at least one clinic held before the Australian trip at your own cost

Barrel racers and breakaway ropers are expected to supply horses for their Australian counterparts during the NZ Challenge

Funding for Youth Development is raised by selling the NZRCA Calendars. These calendars are donated by the Board and sold by the youth to help fund the Challenges and coaching clinics. Even if you are not thinking of being in the team it would be appreciated if you could sell calendars over the Labour Weekend and Christmas circuits, please find Hoody (Chris Hood) to volunteer. It is noted by selectors your enthusiasm when selling calendars

It is hoped that there will be clinics for all youth to participate in later this year, these will be advertised once they are organised

Attached is an application form and we would like applications to be in to Dianna by the end of November. If you were in the team last season then you need to reapply

The Manager is Chris Hood and James Adam is the Director in charge of Youth Development, if you have any questions then please ask
